We leave Dahab around eleven at night, reach the trailhead by one, and climb the camel path with a Bedouin guide from the monastery, finishing on the 750 steps for sunrise at 2,285 metres. St Catherine's Monastery after, then back by late morning. It is properly cold at the top even in summer, so bring a jacket. Blankets can be hired at the summit huts.
